Editorial Policy

The rules we hold ourselves to. These are operational constraints on what we publish, not aspirations — the same rules are written into our content system in SOURCING_RULES.md.

Last updated August 12, 2026

Primary sources only for medical claims

Every medical statement on this site traces to a primary source: FDA prescribing information (usually via DailyMed), Drugs@FDA records, official FDA safety communications, NIH resources, peer-reviewed research, or manufacturer prescribing information where appropriate.

We do not source medical claims from press releases, news coverage, marketing material, other health websites, forums, or social media. If we cannot support a statement from a primary source, we do not publish the statement.

Citations sit next to claims

Sources appear on the page where the claim appears, with the publisher named and the date we last verified the link. We do not hide sourcing behind a generic "references" footer or link to a source that does not actually support the sentence it is attached to.

What we will not publish

  • Dosing instructions or any guidance about what an individual reader should take.
  • Personalized medical recommendations of any kind.
  • Claims that an investigational compound is FDA approved, effective, or safe.
  • Purchase links or CTAs for investigational compounds, "research peptides," or any unapproved product.
  • Links to sellers that dispense prescription medication without a prescription or outside state pharmacy licensure.
  • Before-and-after imagery, weight-loss result claims for individuals, or any "miracle" framing.
  • Fabricated ratings, reviews, testimonials, or star scores — we publish none, and our structured data contains no aggregateRating.
  • A current price without a source and a verification date. In practice we avoid publishing prices at all and link to the authoritative source instead.
  • A claim of medical review without a real, named, qualified reviewer who actually reviewed that page.

How we label FDA status

FDA status is controlled centrally in our codebase, not written by hand on individual pages, so a status change propagates everywhere at once. Status is always stated relative to weight management specifically, because a product can be FDA approved and still not be approved for weight management.

Investigational compounds always carry a prominent "Not FDA approved" callout, and their pages never contain a purchase pathway.

Volatile information and dating

Prices, savings-program terms, coverage rules, and shortage status change constantly. Anything volatile carries a "Last checked" date, and where the honest answer is "check the authoritative source," that is what we say rather than publishing a figure that will be wrong for most readers.

Every drug record also carries a source-verification date and a content-update date, both shown on the page.

Independence from commercial relationships

Advertising, sponsorship, affiliate, and referral relationships have no influence on our medical content, our comparisons, or the order in which we present information. Advertisers do not review content before publication and cannot request changes to it.

Monetized links are labeled at the point of the link and use rel="sponsored nofollow". We do not accept payment to describe a provider as licensed or legitimate — that determination comes only from our own verification.

Comparisons

Comparison pages are built from the same verified drug records that power the individual drug pages, so a comparison never introduces a fact that is not already sourced elsewhere on the site. We do not rank medications or declare a winner. Where labeling does not establish something, the table says so rather than filling the cell.

Corrections

When we get something wrong, we fix it and note it. Our corrections page explains how to report an error and what we log when we make one.

Not medical advice. WeightLossDrugsGuide is an independent educational publisher. We are not a pharmacy, a medical provider, or a telehealth clinic, and we do not provide personalized medical recommendations or dosing guidance. Information here summarizes official FDA labeling and other primary sources and may not reflect the most recent changes. Always talk with a licensed clinician about your own situation, and read the full prescribing information for any medication.
